Bio
Tabitha Thierjung was thirteen when she was first introduced to glass by her mother who blew glass at a local community college. More than inspired, she followed her mother’s footsteps and obtained her Associate’s degree in Arts specializing in Glass from Tidewater Community College. She then moved to middle Tennessee to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Glass from Tennessee Tech University. In her time at TTU, she has held an officer position in student organizations, engaged high schoolers in outreach programs, and attended internationally recognized conventions rooted in the arts to help represent her school and grow her creative practice and connections. She has exhibited in galleries across the country as well as the Chrysler Museum of Art. Her current body of work is focused on the connection between her spiritual practices and her sculptural glass work. Since graduating in 2021, she continued to hone her glass skills through an intensive internship at STARworks Glass and assistantship at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio. She also continued making her work as the Artist in Residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft. While at this residency, she demonstrated at the Glass Art Society Conference and taught a workshop at Blenko Glass Factory. Concluding her time in Tennessee, she has moved back to Norfolk, Virginia to work at the Chrysler Museum of Art Glass Studio.
