Artist Statement

I explore concepts from the mystical world of witchcraft in my art practice through different processes of glass working. Much like witchcraft, glass is a material that is both magical and alluring. I find the optical versatility of glass bewitching—this material has the potential to be transparent, opaque, solid, blown, a vessel or sculpture. Through my explorations of witchcraft and glasswork I have found hot-sculpting glass to be a spiritual process which allows me to have a true connection to the material.

My glass sculptures aim to balance fun and informative, fantastical and educational, so others can connect with me and discover more about the history of witchcraft. I want my glasswork to encourage others to better understand a culture that has lasted centuries and come to appreciate the intricacies of this “witch-craft” and how it inspires my craft.
